We had a great visit today when two of the Australian Volunteers Program partner organisations worked together to bring a seminar about women’s wellbeing to the Olkokola Centre for the Physically Handicapped.  The female trainees at Olkokola were really engaged in a lively, interactive discussion sharing their experiences and issues with Maggy and Eveline, the trainers from Comfy Care 12.  They girls were also delighted with the gift of undies and washable menstrual pads.

Today the students graduated – here they are lined up excited to receive their certificates. Well done all of you!

Now the students will return to their villages and equipped for the possibility of starting their own small businesses. We wish them all the very best.

The centre has closed early for the Easter break because of risks associated with Covid 19 virus. Our diligent library monitor made sure all library books were returned.

Our new education room is nearly ready for a Grand Opening; we are using it already for small classes and the library is open for borrowing books.

We are currently working on a cooperative project with the 4AllFoundation and mojawear.com, producing washable/reusable menstrual pads to be given to girls to keep them at school. Our trainees will also make some to keep to use themselves and we hope to be able to sell some to local women and school girls. This will provide a sustainable answer to managing menstrual health.
